- Camp & Trail
Camp & Trail teaches the practical knowledge behind traveling, making camp, and living well from the equipment you carry. Learn to select and organize a sensible field outfit, choose and arrange a campsite, manage shelter and bedding, keep clothing and gear dry, and handle the everyday work of camp life. Traditional woodcraft and modern equipment are considered together, with an emphasis on comfort, good habits, responsible camp practices, and solving small problems before they become bigger ones.
- Camp Cookery
Camp Cookery goes beyond heating a packaged meal. Learn how a compact, carried cook kit becomes a working woodland kitchen through thoughtful meal planning, food preparation, cookware selection, fire and coal management, and effective stove use. Explore traditional cooking methods alongside modern equipment, with attention to heat control, food safety, sanitation, cleaning, and packing everything back out. The focus is on understanding the methods behind good camp cooking so you can adapt when conditions, ingredients, or equipment change.
- Hunter-Gatherer
Hunter-Gatherer explores how to recognize, responsibly obtain, and make use of food found in the woods and waterways. Learn about seasonal wild foods, fish and small game, active and passive food-procurement approaches, and how terrain, weather, time, and effort influence good decisions. The course also introduces responsible handling, field processing, food value, and short-term storage. Traditional knowledge is considered alongside modern methods, with attention to positive identification, safety, stewardship, and applicable laws.
- Wayfinding
Wayfinding develops the skills and judgment to move through woodland country, stay oriented, scout unfamiliar ground, and find your way back. Learn to read creek drainages, slopes, roads, openings, and other terrain features; use a compass to check direction; estimate distance; and build a reliable mental picture of where you have traveled. More than formal map-and-compass navigation, this course emphasizes observation, return-route awareness, field sense, and deliberate decisions when the woods look unfamiliar.
- Woodswise
Woodswise is about developing the habits and judgment of a capable woodsman—not simply collecting more outdoor techniques. Explore how careful observation, seasonal awareness, knowledge of woodland conditions, and repeated field experience shape better decisions. Learn to notice changes, ask useful questions, make sense of what the woods are telling you, and apply sound judgment when circumstances change. The goal is to build practical woodsmanship, thoughtful self-reliance, and an understanding that continues growing with every trip outdoors.
Full course descriptions, dates, and registration details will be announced ahead of spring 2027.
