ABOUT WOODSRUNNER SCHOOL
Professional wilderness education that prepares people to travel, learn, and lead with confidence outdoors.
Professional wilderness education through hands-on instruction, meaningful experience, and time in the woods.

Woodsrunner School is a professional wilderness education school based in South Carolina, dedicated to helping people develop the knowledge, experience, and sound judgment needed to enjoy the outdoors with confidence.
We believe the outdoors offers opportunities to learn that can't be found anywhere else. Through hands-on instruction and meaningful time in the field, students gain more than new skills—they develop confidence, solve problems, make better decisions, and build understanding that continues to grow long after the course is over.
Whether someone joins us for a single workshop or spends years training with us, our purpose remains the same: helping people become more knowledgeable, more capable, and better prepared every time they step into the outdoors.
Woodsrunner School exists because outdoor education should be about more than teaching skills. It should help people understand the outdoors, enjoy it responsibly, and continue learning throughout their lives.
Woodsrunner wasn't built around selling outdoor classes. It was built around a simple belief—that people become more capable when knowledge, experience, and time outdoors come together.
Our goal is to create learning experiences that continue long after a course has ended. The best outdoor education is measured every time someone confidently plans a trip, helps another person outdoors, solves a problem, or passes knowledge on to the next generation.
While books, videos, and classrooms all have value, nothing replaces meaningful time outdoors. Every outing offers another opportunity to learn, build confidence, solve problems, and deepen our understanding of the natural world.
No matter how much experience we gain, there is always more to discover, more to practice, and more to learn.
KNOWLEDGEKnowledge grows through instruction.
EXPERIENCEExperience grows through time in the field.
READINESSReadiness grows through preparation, observation, and sound judgment.
Build knowledge through professional instruction, thoughtful practice, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Apply what you've learned through meaningful time in the field, where experience develops confidence, judgment, and understanding.
Lead through personal responsibility, stewardship, integrity, and a willingness to encourage, serve, and invest in others.

Outdoor education should be welcoming, encouraging, and built around real experience.
You won't leave believing you know everything.
You'll leave knowing where to keep growing.
Every class encourages questions, participation, conversation, and discovery. We aren't trying to create experts in a weekend—we're helping people build a foundation of knowledge, experience, and readiness that continues to grow every time they spend time outdoors.
Every Woodsrunner experience stands on its own while encouraging a lifelong pursuit of learning.
Hands-on instruction is at the heart of every Woodsrunner course. Students participate, ask questions, practice, solve problems, and build confidence through experience.
Some of the greatest lessons come from meaningful time outdoors.

Questions are encouraged. Everyone starts somewhere. Nobody gets left behind. Learning continues after class, around the campfire, on the trail, and on every trip that follows.
Learning to enjoy the outdoors also means learning to care for it. We encourage respect for wildlife, responsible outdoor ethics, thoughtful conservation, and stewardship of the places we enjoy.
There isn't a typical Woodsrunner student.
Some are taking their first steps outdoors. Others have spent years camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, paddling, or exploring wild places.
What brings them together isn't their level of experience—it's a desire to keep learning.
