SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY REQURIMENTS

The Woodsrunner Youth Project is committed to making its transformative wilderness programs accessible to all youth, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through our scholarship program, we aim to create opportunities for young individuals to engage in meaningful outdoor experiences that foster growth, learning, and connection with the wilderness. This document outlines the selection and approval process for the Woodsrunner Youth Project scholarship, including eligibility criteria, application steps, and important considerations.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Woodsrunner Youth Project scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Financial Need: Families facing financial challenges that may hinder their child's participation in the program are eligible to apply.

Interest and Enthusiasm: Applicants should demonstrate a genuine interest in outdoor activities and a desire to engage in wilderness youth programs.

The scholarship is open to youth between the ages of 7 and 14.

Application Steps:

  • Submission of Application: Parents or guardians interested in applying for the scholarship must complete and submit the scholarship application form provided by the Woodsrunner Youth Project. The application form will include basic contact information, a brief statement of interest, and responses to specific questions related to eligibility criteria.

  • Financial Information: The application form may include questions about the family's financial situation to assess the need for financial assistance. The Woodsrunner Youth Project understands that financial circumstances can vary, and all information provided will be treated confidentially.

  • Volunteer Trade and Fundraising: In addition to financial need, applicants may have the option to express interest in participating in volunteer activities or fundraising efforts to contribute to the scholarship program. This may involve contributing time, skills, or resources to support the organization.

  • Review and Evaluation: The Woodsrunner Youth Project scholarship committee will review all applications to assess eligibility based on financial need, enthusiasm for the program, and potential for meaningful engagement. The financial information provided will be kept confidential and used solely for scholarship assessment.

Approval Process:

  • Selection and Notification: The scholarship committee will carefully review each application and select recipients based on the eligibility criteria and the organization's available resources. Applicants who meet the criteria will be notified of their scholarship status through the contact information provided in their application.

  • Scholarship Agreement: Upon approval, scholarship recipients and their parents/guardians will be required to sign a scholarship agreement outlining the terms and conditions of the scholarship. This agreement may include expectations for participation, attendance, behavior, and adherence to program guidelines.

  • Attendance and Participation: Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the scheduled training days and participate actively in the wilderness youth programs. Failure to attend multiple sessions without prior notice may result in the revocation of the scholarship.

  • Ongoing Engagement: Scholarship recipients and their families are encouraged to stay engaged with the Woodsrunner Youth Project community by participating in activities, events, and fundraisers that contribute to the sustainability of the scholarship program.

Scholarship Revocation:

The Woodsrunner Youth Project reserves the right to revoke a scholarship if the recipient consistently fails to meet attendance requirements or violates program guidelines. Scholarship recipients are expected to fulfill their commitments, contribute positively to the program, and actively engage in the activities and learning opportunities provided.

We understand that individual circumstances may arise, and we encourage open communication between scholarship recipients and the Woodsrunner Youth Project staff to address any challenges or concerns.
