JOHN "G" GALLOWAY

Instructor

G’s diverse journey, rooted in various corners of the United States, reflects a life shaped by a rich tapestry of experiences. Born to missionary parents, his upbringing took him from the rugged landscapes of Northern California to the enchanting terrains of North Carolina. It was during these formative years that G imbibed a unique set of skills in wilderness and homesteading, a legacy passed down from his father and intricately woven into the fabric of the regions he called home.

Following his high school graduation, G embarked on a decade-long journey of service with the United States Marine Corps (USMC). His commitment to duty extended beyond national borders, as he spent significant time immersed in indigenous villages in the Philippines, honing his wilderness skills and mastering the art of jungle survival. This period not only enriched his skillset but also instilled in him a profound appreciation for diverse cultures and the inherent connection between humanity and the untamed wild.

Upon completing his distinguished service with the USMC, G transitioned seamlessly into a new chapter of his life. Joining the Fayetteville Fire Department in North Carolina, he served with dedication and distinction in various capacities, including as a medic, Rescue Technician, HazMat Technician, and ultimately retiring in 2016 as a Captain. His tenure with the fire department was marked by a commitment to public safety and a steadfast resolve to protect and serve the community.

In 2016, G  decided to turn his lifelong passion for homesteading into a full-time vocation. However, his journey did not stop there. Leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience, he ventured into the realm of firearms training, specializing in his true love—long-range precision. G's commitment to excellence and his unwavering dedication to his craft quickly made him a respected figure in the field.

As his career evolved, G expanded his repertoire to include teaching wilderness skills. In doing so, he not only imparts practical knowledge but also shares the profound spiritual connection he perceives in God's creation. For G, the wild is not just a backdrop; it's a source of peace.

Today, G continues to inspire and educate, seamlessly blending his expertise in homesteading, long-range precision, and wilderness skills. His journey, fueled by a passion for both practical skills and the desire to share the beauty of God’s creation and the tranquility that the wild can bring, stands as a testament to a life well-lived and a steadfast commitment to sharing the profound gifts of the wilderness with others.
