JEFF GOALEN

Wilderness Medicine Instructor

Jeff Goalen, the Woodsrunner Medic, is a distinguished professional with a rich background in the realms of firefighting, emergency medical services, and wilderness medicine training. Currently residing in Grayson, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta, Jeff has successfully transplanted his West Coast roots to become an integral part of the emergency services community on the East Coast.

Jeff's journey in the field began with his honorable service in the U.S. Navy in the late 90s. Post-military, he redirected his dedication towards the fire service, achieving firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certifications at Crafton Hills College. His commitment to service and excellence led him to volunteer with the Riverside County Fire Department for several years, where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for his illustrious career.

In the early 2000s, Jeff's expertise was recognized, and he was offered employment with Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. Currently serving as a Firefighter Paramedic and Lieutenant at Fire Station 8 on C-shift, Jeff brings over two decades of invaluable experience to the forefront of emergency response and management.

Beyond his frontline duties, Jeff is committed to continuous learning and professional development. He is currently pursuing his bachelor's degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University, demonstrating his dedication to advancing his knowledge and skills in the field.

As the co-owner of Redline959 Training and Development, LLC, Jeff extends his expertise as an instructor for CPR/AED, first-aid, and wilderness medicine courses. With a teaching philosophy rooted in a solid foundation of classroom lecture and real-world practical applications, Jeff instills confidence in his students, preparing them for the challenges they may face in the future.

Outside of his professional commitments, Jeff's passion for the outdoors is evident. An avid enthusiast of biking, canoeing, primitive camping, and hunting, he embodies the spirit of a woodsrunner, finding solace and joy in nature's embrace.

Jeff Goalen is not only a seasoned Fire and EMS instructor but also a devoted family man. Married to his wife Sylvia for two decades, they share the joys and challenges of parenthood, raising three children together. Jeff's life is a testament to his commitment to service, education, and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of his professional and personal journey.
