About the Event

Wilderness Survival 301 Course is one portion of the third course in the progressionary Woodsrunner system of skills, safety, and survival. In the 201 Course, students were taught how to rely more on improvisation techniques, natural resources, and rely less on equipment to survive in the wilderness longer term, and to prevent future crises.

This is an advanced survival course where skills will be tested in a cold climate, as you build on the skills and knowledge gained from the prior survival courses. This course then enables you to go beyond mere survival and burrow deeper into the long-term skills of living from resources found within the landscape and along the water's edge.

If you want to test your skills and learn to provide for yourself or your family in a long term wilderness setting this course is for you.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Wilderness Survival 201 Course

Wilderness Skills & Topics Covered:

  • Firecraft (Advanced)

Wilderness Skills & Topics Covered:

This course was designed not only to test you, but to instill confidence in your abilities and teach highly advanced survival techniques necessary to thrive in a long term scenario.

Through the duration of the course you will have little to no modern equipment. You can also expect to experience sleep, food, and water deprivation, navigating daily through rough and inhospitable terrain, and sleep in primitive constructed shelters.

This course is a hands-on application of essential skills that challenges you to face situations in new ways. Over the course of 4 days you will use advanced navigational skills to traverse across land within a remote wilderness setting. All while using critical thinking skills to find a suitable location for a base camp. The base camp must provide an adequate water source and the materials needed for fire and shelter.

Under the instruction and guidance of our instructors, you will be required to leave the established base camp each day to locate and procure your food resources.

Eligibility Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old.

Special Requirement: Students must purchase a South Carolina Hunting and Fishing License to keep it in their possession at all times during this course. If you are a SC resident, click the link for a yearly license or permit. For non-residents click here for the out-of-state permit.

What to Expect:

  • To sleep in primitive constructed shelters within a remote environment
  • Experience sleep, food, and water deprivation until you complete tasks that may be needed in a “for real” situation
  • To test the limits of your current skills and knowledge
  • To learn new skills and techniques only (not a review of the 101 or 201)
