SURVIVAL 301

Survive To Sustain

Survival 301: Survive to Sustain "Beyond 72 Hours"

After the 72-hour window closes, skill takes over.

Shift From Reaction to Resilience:

You’ve already learned how to survive the first 72 hours. Now it's time to go further.

Survival 301 is the third step in the Woodsrunner Survival Path and is for those who have completed the Survival 201.

This three-day course teaches you how to stay alive when rescue doesn't arrive—and when gear alone isn’t enough.

In real-world survival, supplies run out. Tools break. Conditions change. This is where improvisation, field-tested skills, and a steady mindset become the difference between making it and falling short.

This isn’t survival camp—it’s applied, hands-on training in real terrain. Over five days, you’ll gain confidence through challenge, learn to adapt under pressure, and develop the kind of long-term wilderness survival ability that doesn’t fade when your gear does.

Is This Course Right for Me?

This course is for you if:

  • You’ve completed Survival 201 (required)

  • You’re ready to move beyond basic survival and into sustainable backwoods living

  • You want to train in real wilderness conditions, not simulations

  • You’re looking to sharpen your fieldcraft and improvisational problem-solving

  • You want to develop long-term self-reliance in uncertain environments

What You’ll Learn

This course builds on everything you’ve learned so far—taking the core skills from 101 and 201 and putting them to work in a long-term field setting. You'll face changing weather, energy drain, equipment limitations, and unfamiliar terrain—and learn to navigate it all with skill, not panic.

Improvisation is at the heart of this course. You'll learn how to overcome when gear fails, how to adapt when plans change, and how to rely on your training—not just your tools.

Topics Covered:

  • Managing Your Top Survival Priorities – Know what matters most when time, energy, and resources are low

  • Situational Awareness – Learn how to read the environment and make smart decisions in motion

  • Mental Fortitude & Field Decision-Making – Stay calm, think clearly, and lead yourself under pressure

  • Improvised Firecraft – Start and sustain fire using natural materials, even without your normal gear

  • Navigation Using Terrain and Woodsman Skills – Navigate using landmarks, patterns, and environmental awareness

  • Protein Sourcing & Field Tools – Scouting, fishing, trapping

  • Shooting Fundamentals – Firearms, slingshots, and small-caliber weapons to secure long-term food sources

  • Cooking With Fire – Primitive and field-expedient methods for cooking, preserving, and preparing wild game

  • Water Procurement & Purification – Locate, collect, treat, and ration water safely in the field

  • Plant & Tree Identification – Know what’s edible, what’s useful, and what to avoid

  • Foraging & Folk Medicine Making – Harvest wild plants for food, treatment, and emergency remedies

  • Self-Care (Improvised First Aid & Hygiene) – Handle wounds, hygiene, and long-term health off-grid

This isn’t theory—it’s practiced self-reliance.

What’s Included:

  • Three full days of immersive survival instruction

  • Small group training with direct instructor feedback

  • Field-based overnight shelter experience

  • One rustic group meal during the primitive cooking lesson

  • Certificate of completion

Course Details:

Duration: 3 Days

Location: Woodsrunner School, Clinton, SC

Eligibility: Ages 14 and up

Prerequisite: Completion of Survival 201 required

Gear Requirement: Gear list provided at successful completion of the Survival 201 Course

Camping: Night 1 at basecamp; remaining nights in the field using shelters you build

Course Format:

Survival 301 begins at basecamp for gear checks, review, and lecture instruction, and orientation. Once the group transitions into the field, the rest of the course takes place in the woods—where you’ll live, work, and train from shelters you construct using available materials and your skillset.

Each day builds on the last with increasing complexity, physical challenge, and hands-on learning. You’ll be given space to lead, room to fail, and constant guidance to grow.

What You’ll Walk Away With:

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Sustain yourself with wild food, clean water, and improvised shelter

  • Navigate and move safely through unfamiliar terrain

  • Start fires and cook without modern equipment

  • Adapt in the moment when gear is lost, broken, or unavailable

  • Manage your mindset when the situation stretches into days, not hours

  • Trust your hands, head, and instincts to carry you through

Final Word:

Survival 301 is not the beginning—and it’s far from the end.

It’s where your survival skills become survival thinking. Where instinct meets improvisation. Where you stop reacting—and start enduring.

If you’re serious about becoming truly self-reliant in the wilderness, this is the course that shows you how to stay when others would leave.
