About the Event

The Wilderness Survival 301 Summer Course is one portion of the third course in the progressionary Woodsrunner system of skills, safety, and survival. In the 201 Course, students were taught how to rely more on improvisation techniques, natural resources, and rely less on equipment to survive in the wilderness longer term, and to prevent future crises.

This is an advanced survival course where skills will be tested in a hot climate, as you build on the skills and knowledge gained from the prior survival courses to go beyond mere survival and burrow deeper into the long-term skills of living from resources found within the landscape and in the water.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Wilderness Survival 201 Course

Wilderness Skills & Topics Covered:

  • Firecraft - (Advanced)

Wilderness Skills & Topics Covered:

This course was designed not only to test you, but to instill confidence in your abilities, and teach highly advanced survival techniques necessary to thrive in a long term scenario.

Through the duration of this course you will have little to no modern equipment.

This course is a hands-on application of essential skills that challenges you to face situations in new ways. Over the course of 4 days you will use advanced navigational skills to traverse land and water, utilizing a Canoe or Kayak, all while using critical thinking skills to find new suitable locations for base camps.

Under the instruction and guidance of our instructors, you will be required to leave the established base camp each day and paddle to a new base camp. Each new camp must be safe and provide for your survival necessities (Fire, Food, Water, and Shelter) throughout the duration of the course, along a river setting, with little to no equipment.

If you want to test your skills and learn to provide for yourself in a long term wilderness setting, this course is for you.

Eligibility Requirements: Students must be at least 18 years old.

Special Requirement: Students must purchase a South Carolina Fishing License to keep it in their possession at all times during this course. If you are a SC resident, click the link for a yearly license or permit. For non-residents click here for the out-of-state permit.
