The Woodsrunner School of Self-Reliance welcomes you and your family to our training facility on May 31st - June 2nd for a fun and exciting weekend of good food, demonstrations, and challenges in the field of wilderness knowledge and skills. This weekend is awesome opportunity for everyone to enjoy nature and great fellowship. Whether you have extensive knowledge of outdoor skills, just a base set of skills, or no skills at all, this event has something for you!

A portion of the proceeds will be used to support the Woodsrunner Youth/4H program!!!



What should I expect at this event?


This event includes activities for everyone!


  • Demonstrations include: making pine pitch glue, net making, vine basket making, knife safety and try-stick carving, stalking, horseshoe bedrolls, primitive archery, rendering tallow, Through the Eyes of the Cherokee, making a bushcraft camp chair, flint/steel/charcloth, fatwood processing and ferrocerium rods, wilderness medicine skills including management of soft tissue injuries, improvised patient carries, and much more!

  • The shooting trailer will be open so get ready for some friendly competition to support the Woodsrunner Youth/4H program!

  • Trade Blanket / Gear Exchange- bring your new and used gear for trading

  • Youth Activities such as critter expeditions, a scavenger hunt, story time, games, campfire songs, knife safety, and a lesson on how to make Hillbilly Water Filters!

  • Feeling confident? Participate in our many challenges for a chance to win some awesome gear!

  • Raffles and prize giveaways!

  • AND A LOW-COUNTRY BOIL on Saturday evening!!




  • Composting Toilets & Handwashing Stations

  • Propane Cook Stoves

  • Hot Shower




  • Hammock and tent camping available on site at no additional charge.

  • The Brick House Campground is just 1.5 miles down the road as a place to bring travel trailers and RV's.


What to Bring:


  • Drinking and cooking water for the duration of the event

  • A hammock or tent

  • Weather appropriate sleeping gear

  • Weather appropriate clothing and closed-toed footwear

  • Raincoat or umbrella

  • Food, snacks, and drinks for the duration of the event
