Every Person Who Prepares is One Less Person Who Panics in a Crisis
Wilderness medicine is the know-how and skills needed to provide "crucial emergency care in resource-constrained environments" where definitive care is delayed by difficult patient access, minimal equipment, and various environmental extremities. Quick decision making, creative thinking and improvisation techniques are paramount because advanced medical assistance is sometimes more than an hour, and even up to days or weeks away.
In late 2019 The Woodsrunner School, LLC. began working in conjunction with Valor Medical Services LLC; the result of this collaboration has been the advent of our wilderness medicine training program.
Through a combination of lecture/didactic portions, via an online instructional platform, and practical experiences, in both the classroom and hands-on skills sessions held on-site at our training facility located in Clinton, SC, students acquire the critical skills needed for rendering aid in austere environments.
Instruction is led by experienced staff who have extensive hands-on experience in various environments.
Anyone who engages in hiking, climbing, hunting, fishing, exploring, kayaking, search & rescue, outdoor leadership, guiding, instructing, preparedness, and any other activity with a higher risk are the perfect candidates to acquire this training.
Having these skills and this knowledge have proven time and again to save lives.
