In our experience, most people do not truly see the value in and often underestimate the need for finding and making water safe to drink. The H20 Water! Course is one of the most vital courses we offer. Due to the body’s absolute need for water, even the slightest amount of deprivation can lead to dehydration. Furthermore,  the introduction of any injury, illness, panic, extreme weather conditions, can lead the body into a critical situation.

Not all water sources are potable, or safe to drink. Rivers, lakes, ponds, and creeks often contain parasites, bacteria, and other deadly pathogens.  Chemical contaminants also cause severe problems, and outdoors-men and campers are finding them in water sources worldwide.

What is covered in the course? 

This course covers understanding the symptoms of dehydration, ways to locate water sources and the essential skills dealing with the proper way to filter and purify water in a variety of different environments and situations. This course can literally save your life.

In this 2 day course, we will cover the many types of bacteria, parasites, viruses, and chemicals that, when ingested, lead to illness after drinking untreated water. We will also explore how they get into water sources both in the wilderness and populated areas. Our instructors will explain and demonstrate the various methods to make water safe to drink, using modern filtration and purification tools as well as using improvised techniques. 


Eligibility Requirements: Students must be at least 12 years old. All students younger than 18 must be accompanied by a paid parent or legal guardian.

  • Using various methods of water filtration (modern gear and improvised techniques)

  • Purifying water through thermal, radiation, and chemical means

  • Knowing how and where to procure the safest drinking water

  • Understanding many variables, such as: 

  • The consequences of drinking unsafe water

  • How pathogens get into water sources

  • Types of chemicals found in water and how they’re harmful

  • Types of bacteria and parasites that can be ingested and lead to illness through the drinking of untreated water

  • Variables that impact the quantity of water needed for each individual  (weight, last consumption and amount of last consumption, injury/illness, environmental temperature/conditions, etc.)
