Core Skills Survival Course
Time & Location
About the Event
The Woodsrunner School, LLC. is coming back to Narrow Way Nature Center to give the local youth and their family members an opportunity to take part in Survival Training. This course is an introduction to wilderness skills and is designed to show how emergency crisis situations come about, and how to effectively deal with them.
During the course, our instructors will guide participants through the process using the components of a survival kit to deal with common situations that occur in the outdoors. This course is not physically demanding and is appropriate for anyone age 7 or older.
Our Instructors are dedicated to establishing a baseline of the skills and knowledge needed in many natural environments, and to teaching our students how to see nature as providing the needed resources, whether they use them to effect rescue, keep themselves alive, or help and protect others.
Our survival training covers the following topics:
- Lost Proofing - Navigation, signaling & rescue
- Traveling safely within the wilderness
- What to do before ever entering the wilderness
- Situational Awareness
- Survival priorities & survival mindset
- Fire starting & maintaining fire
